History backgound of the Gadsden Flag:
Designed in 1775 by South Carolina delegate Christopher Gadsden, the iconic yellow flag featuring a coiled rattlesnake and the motto "Don't Tread on Me" was originally a symbol of colonial unity and defiance against British rule and taxation during the American Revolution.

The flag saw massive renewed popularity during the 2009 Tea Party movement as a protest symbol against federal government overreach and taxation.
